I have Thoughts
Summary
QB/OL: Ryan Patrick Day can be replaced, and the Ohio State coaching job isn't harder vs TX, BAMA, MI, GA, etc.
Ryan Patrick Day can be replaced, and the Ohio State coaching job isn't harder vs TX, BAMA, MI, GA, etc. To fire him over the game vs TX would obviously be foolish, but let's not over embellish his talents or the difficulty of his job vs Kirby Smart's job. Our DL is what is, same with our LB, same with our OL. We need to dial up pressure because we don't have DEs that can consistently beat their guys. We need to lean more in on our youth in the LB room. Are we getting the return on our investment when we go into the portal with our cash? I would say we are not. We have more misses than hits. We have some hits no doubt, but more misses. Throwing more cash at positions, like OL, isn't the answer. We need to first ensure we properly evaluate kids and ensure they are going to push the 2 deep in a major way. Agree with you about Sayin. Nice kid, but does he have the intangibles to be the difference maker? You need difference makers at the QB position in college, and he has come up short in the biggest games and on the highest stages. If he comes back next year, why would we expect a difference maker? What did Albert Einstein say about the definition of insanity? Portal QB has to be an option next year, and not just a warm body. Regardless, all is not lost. We lost a tough game. We have issues we need to address, but it's a long season. The road only just got harder, that's all.
