Leadership was lacking in Saturday's loss, the hope is the player-led meeting it led to will change that

Here is another quote about the player-led meeting from an Oregon football player: "I feel it's good. Guys are hungry. Upset about the loss and upset about their performance. Guys came out practicing hard, trying to change the outcome." Unfortunately, that was Dwyane Stanford after Oregon suffered back-to-back losses during the (ultimately 4-8) 2016 season - and held a player-led meeting to right the ship. So while a player-led meeting is nice, and I suppose having one is a better sign that people completely not caring, it's certainly no guarantee of anything. (Obviously, this is not me comparing Lanning to Helfrich; I think there is very little chance that this spirals to that extent.) I wish there were a good framework for predicting from the outside whether a desperately needed reset is going to occur, but I have yet to find anything that can make me confidently say that we are Ohio State 2014 and not Penn State 2024. I think we just have to wait to see what they put on the field over the next two games. Fingers crossed.
