Getting this "around CFB" back on the rails, ECU opens 0-2 by losing at home to App. State. Don't think the Pirates did a particularly good job in the portal replacing their QB who went to Illinois or some of their very good skill players. Memphis getting blown out by Boise. I thought Memphis would have given Boise a better game. Navy came back to earth a little bit and Army didn't cover a modest 3.5. Toledo is good but nowhere near as talented as Penn State. Temple defense solid against a much more explosive PSU team. Owls, though, have to diversify their offense and get the ball to playmakers in space (Bermudez, Clarke, Chase, Mason and Brown). You create that space with a running QB that the defense has to spy and, while both Sheppard and Smolik are more mobile than Simon, I don't think they warrant that kind of attention. Owls are a year away from having a guy who can (Lamar Best, who would have taken that Smolik run to the house).
