UCLA released its first injury report ahead of Saturday's matchup with Purdue Wednesday, and starting wide receiver Mikey Matthews and starting safety Tao Johnson are listed as out. Matthews suffered a lower body injury in UCLA's win over San Diego State and did not return. With Matthews out this week, Michigan transfer Semaj Morgan will be thrust into a bigger role as a slot receiver and punt returner. Morgan filled in well against San Diego State catching six passes for 73 yards and returning one punt for 25 yards. Johnson got hurt against Cal in Week 1 and hasn't played since. Iowa State transfer Ta'Shawn James has been Johnson's replacement. Starting tight end Josh Phifer is listed as doubtful to play this week. Multiple other Bruins are listed as questionable for the Purdue game including wide receiver Aidan Mizell, edge rusher Ryan McCulloch and cornerback Jhase McMillan. Ahead of Big Ten games this season, teams will be required to submit an availability report on each of the three days before a game and on the day of the game, two hours before kickoff.
