Years ago I had a good friend of mine have a heat stroke during a marathon race in the desert. He collapsed during the run. Thankfully, the race had prepared for this possibility. They had a van follow runners on the track and were able to treat him. They immediately put ice on him under his armpits, groin, and neck. He was life flighted away from the area and, according to the doctors at the time, had a 50% chance to live. He survived, but it was insane how quickly it happened. The quick response of the staff saved his life. ASU should have been prepared for this. Powers should have been prepared for this. The staff should have been prepared for this. And if I was Powers, I would take a leave of absence on my own while the investigation is ongoing. No one (obviously) thinks he intended this to happen. But damn... having outdoor practice in AZ in the summer... without proper safeguards in place? To try and coach a team through this process is lunacy.
