I keep hearing people argue that BC is doing something about it with the already announced $50M endowment campaign for athletics. Some much needed context before we get our hopes up… I’ll preface this by saying the new campaign is very much welcome news. That being said, it’s actually not as great as it sounds. It’s $50M over 5-7 years for all athletics. And this isn’t for NIL, simply additional funding for athletic scholarships and operational costs. Football gets 75% of the rev share pot so if we assume a similar distribution… over 5-7 years the total campaign funding/year is between $7.1M - $10M . Football would then get $5.3M/year - $7.5M/year. Even if it’s for NIL (which it’s not), we’d still be at the bottom of P4.
