Only after the opening line is set does the public's subjective belief comes into play. And it would take heavy betting on one side to move the line 1 point, unless an injury keeps a key player out. With that 2 1/2 opening line, they might adjust it to 3 points if they're betting UF, or 2 points if they're betting AU. It would take extreme betting on one side to move it to 3 1/2 or 1 1/2 points, books don't want to get middled. That opening line is very reflective of the percieved strenghts of both teams by those who do this for a living, and they're very good.
