"The Return" is just two days away. Lane Kiffin goes back to Oxford on Saturday to face his former school, No. 8 Ole Miss, with his No. 7 LSU Tigers set to play in front of a sold-out Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
This is a game that has been circled not only by Ole Miss fans but by the entire college football world since the SEC schedules were released. There are plenty of storylines surrounding Saturday night's top-10 matchup. Kiffin will face Trinidad Chambliss and Kewan Lacy, both of whom he brought to Oxford, while four former Rebels will face their former teammates. Two of those players are also being sued by their former school.
While much of the national media believes the pressure on Kiffin to win this weekend is at an all-time high, LSU's head coach has told his team that it's quite the opposite.
"I told the players today, man, like you don't have anything to worry about as far as like attention on you all week and everything. There's just gonna be so much attention, hatred, everything on me. I said you just get to go play," Kiffin said Monday. "And I said, 'Really, the pressure is on them. We won seven games last year. They won 13. They return two Heisman candidates. So you guys just get to go play, and the pressure is not on you.'"
The Tigers have been impressive through the first two games of the 2026 season, but this weekend's matchup with the Rebels gives them a chance to make a statement and show the country what they're really capable of.
