On Wednesday evening, South Carolina EDGE Dylan Stewart and Jacarrius Peak were listed as probable on the SEC Student-Athlete Availability report for the conference opener on Saturday. On Thursday evening, head coach Shane Beamer provided an update on both, as well as a few other Gamecocks who were listed on Wednesday evening's report.
In addition to Peak and Stewart, the Gamecocks listed starting center Carter Miller as questionable while quarterback Lucian Anderson III, defensive back Jalewis Solomon, wide receiver Jayden Sellers, linebacker AJ Holloway and offensive lineman Josiah Thompson as out.
On 'Carolina Calls' with Todd Ellis on Thursday, Beamer shared the latest on Peak and Stewart with under 48 hours until kickoff on Saturday.
"Peak and Stewart have had a good week of practice and certainly trending in the right direction," Beamer said. "Barring any setbacks tomorrow, we expect to see them on the field Saturday."
Sellers and Thompson have already been announced as out for the season due to injury. However, Miller was dealing with a back injury and did not play in the second half against Towson. Solomon was also not available last week while Anderson was a new addition to the injury report on Wednesday.
The Gamecocks' head coach also provided an update on Miller, Anderson and Solomon on Thursday.
"In regards to Lucian, our third team quarterback, his is not long-term," Beamer said. "He won't play Saturday but should get him back next week. Jalewis is not long-term. Hopefully, we will have him back next week or the week after. Carter, I think we listed him as questionable. I think we have him as probable tonight. Believe that he will be available on Saturday."
Kickoff between the Gamecocks and Bulldogs on Saturday in Williams-Brice Stadium is set for 4:15 p.m. and will be televised on SEC Network.
