B&Bs week 3 breakdown
Summary
Pick/market: Ahhh the time has come.
Ahhh the time has come. Here is Coach B&Bs breakdown of Ole Miss vs LSU that no one asked for.
#1. Let your strengths be your strengths. In my opinion, you have one of if not THE best defense in the country. Use it. Spam Trey’dez. Send heat. Let your quick game be a factor. Don’t make football hard by trying to outsmart the room.
2.Make Trinidad and the receivers beat you. In big games, against good teams (yes Ole Miss is a good football team) You go right at their strength. Trinidad will get his. But when Louisville brought more than 4 they really had him running for his life in some spots. I think LSU can get home with 4. But again, let a strength be a strength. You have the master of chaos in Blake Baker. Send the heat. Don’t let the run game get going with Lacy. I think man to man with an eye on Deuce Alexander will be the play. If you are to play zone. I think a Cover 4 or Cover 6 is the play making sure the seems and hook to curls are taken care of. I truly believe we have the best defense in the country with the best dc. I think they’ll be prepared
3. Offensively you MUST DO 3 things. Run the ball outside the guards. Ole Miss has a good interior d line. Your strengths on the line is your tackles, and a tight end that has been quietly vastly improved in the run game. Use it. Stretch zone, split zone, outside zone, sweeps, etc. get outside the guards make those backers flow to em and don’t let purchase and echoles start fast. GET THE OUTSIDE VERTICAL PASSING GAME GOING. I know it was week 1. But that secondary has more than just “gotta get right, knock the rust off issues” I think it’s a talent issue. Win those matchups, it opens up everything else by not only making the defense adjust, but it’s also just a pillar of lanes offenses. I’d love to see Jayce Brown get going. I think Jackson Harris is your guy on the outside that can do that for you and poised for possibly a big game. I know Winnie and Trey Dez will be fine inside the numbers and hashes. Just overall. I’d love to see Eugene Wilson touch the ball even more as well. DON’T TURN THE FOOTBALL OVER. The defense will be fine. But don’t get it twisted Trinidad and that offense will get theirs as well. You cannot give them extra opportunities.
Final thought: This is going to be a wild spectacle. Everyone knows that. From a football standpoint purely. You’re the better team and better coaching staff. Don’t let emotion and other outside factors get in the way of that. While Ole Miss is a good football team. I’m not as high on them or A&M for that matter as most. You don’t lose that players, coaches, etc that they did and just magically maintain or get better. There is growing pains. As there will be for LSU too. But not this week. If you play to your potential and standard. You can make that place real quiet
