Coach Lounsberry thoughts
Summary
OL: Just me speculating here: When the defense is showing pressure, the O-Line (usually the center) has to call out or change the protection (sliding one direction, passing off, etc) to pick up the pressure.
Just me speculating here: When the defense is showing pressure, the O-Line (usually the center) has to call out or change the protection (sliding one direction, passing off, etc) to pick up the pressure. It could mean that the communication issues were getting the proper call, or making the right adjustment call to match the pressure. Or, maybe some guys didn’t hear the call or misunderstood their assignment. What’s interesting is that the interior of the line (C and G) seemed to struggle most, and they are either making the call or closest to hear the call. Again, this is just me speculating… but obviously something was wrong and needs to be addressed.
