Boston College linebacker Griffin Collins played only one defensive snap against Rutgers, his first linebacker snap of the season. He appeared in eight games with 15 tackles last year. The writer sees Maine as a possible chance to develop the sophomore reserve, not evidence that he has won a starting role.

The writer observed defensive back Njita Sinkala compete well against Boston College's top receiving options and in one-on-one drills during fall camp, but judged him insufficiently polished for a regular role. Any expanded playing time against Maine is a projection, not a staff-announced rotation change.

Tight end DJ Johnson impressed the writer with his hands, ability to find open space and speed during fall camp, including an athletic sideline catch and a red-zone touchdown in a scrimmage. Blocking remains a developmental concern; possible Maine reps would test his receiving promise in a game.

Boston College has two viable punting options in Bryce LaFollette and Andy Quinn, in the writer's assessment. Quinn could receive late work against Maine if LaFollette remains the starter, but the article does not report a confirmed punter change or substitution plan.

The article describes Mason McKenzie as Boston College's established starting quarterback. Redshirt freshman Grayson Wilson is characterized as more of a pocket passer with encouraging spring and summer moments; the writer expects late-game opportunities against Maine, not a quarterback competition or guaranteed snap count.
