Senate bill will bring new Conference members in 2032
Summary
LB: Interesting but I don't see a big problem OR new advantages for the Big 12.
Interesting but I don't see a big problem OR new advantages for the Big 12. I would think the Big Ten would be reluctant to only add one more member which would be an uneven number as it relates to scheduling/travel issues. Unless perhaps they offered ND the type deal they have with the ACC. But also hard to see the Big Ten offering that type deal to ND which would make it obvious that ND would get special treatment. Without a special offer I don't see ND going to the Big 10. And since 19 is an uneven number like I stated above, I also think it improbable that the SEC would go beyond 18. Should only a total of 3 schools possibly go to the BIG/SEC IMO it wouldn't affect the Big 12 much at all. Seems obvious why a max of 19 is in the language. IMO to stop formation of what a lot of fans/observers predicted would happen with a super diivision of more than 40 schools. And no I don't see a scenario in which the Big 12 would easily be able to pick off members from the ACC. That type thinking is often done in this forum, but the ACC IMO currently is in as good or better position than the Big 12 and the loss of even a small number of schools from a conference that has just as much revenues capabilty as well as NIL capability as Big 12 schools, wouldn't seem to support the assumptions a lot of Big 12 supporters continue to make. And don't forget if the Big Ten did contemplate going to 19 it is obvious KU and Utah would continue to lobby the Big Ten for entrance.
