Mike Tolleson
Summary
Mike Tolleson was early-arriving, supportive coach who held players accountable; players loved him.
I worked for the football team in the early 2000s. Tolly was awesome! He and McWhorter would always be two coaches that would get to practice early and spend some time talking to the managers and athletic trainers that were setting up practice. One moment that I will never forget was an early spring drill session. These practices were at like 5:30 in the morning. I was assigned to Tolly's station, and during one drill he lost it when the guys were not giving the best effort or doing what they were supposed to. He let them HAVE IT. That normally wasn't him at all, but encouraging wasn't getting the job done. After the butt-chewing, he sent the guys to the next station, and turned to me to apologize for his language. haha He was a great coach and a nice guy. His players loved him. Also, he got super tipsy coming home from the National Championship game.
