First Things First on Game Day: Texas needs an identity on D; run the dang ball; ball security and more
Summary
Pick/market: Yea, I think it's time that Muschamp stop experimenting with his defense and start doing what we all expected him to do in his defensive scheme.

Curb stomping UTSA won't do anything for Texas but it might get the Texas defenders in a frame of mind of how they want to play going forward including those guys down on the depth chart. I've never been a zone pass coverage guy and whined about it a lot with PK's defensive scheme. It's a tough concept to learn and too often it is defeated by poor communication on the back end. With Taaffe gone to the NFL and Jelani has yet to show he can get everybody right back there. All those highly talented guys playing DBs for Texas grew up playing man coverage. That's what they want to do and that will give them more opportunities to make plays on the ball and not just tackle the runner. As far as ball security goes, Texas needs to nip that in the bud right now. I think Hollywood's fumble was from him reaching to put the ball over the goal line on the play before the final TD. Regardless, more teams defense are playing to punch out the ball these days so it is essential to cover up when in traffic, RBs and WRs alike. Arch is staring down his receivers too often. It is obvious he gets honed in on who he wants to get the ball to on any given pass play. He's got to look them off to get them open. Hoping to see Cooper get some snaps with the ball in his hands and maybe Simons too. I think if Texas wanted to they could just run the ball and still win this game. JMO
