The plan was to stop the run, which they did — at a huge cost since our secondary is weak, at least with the current injuries, and had zero ability to cover that slot guy. Scooter Jackson was no bueno. But if we were given the option to hold their rushing to 2ypp at basically any cost, I’m sure we all would’ve taken it.
This is very far from a shutdown defense. The talent level just isn’t there. What we need from them is the ability to do SOMETHING, take away at least one thing, and then be opportunistic enough with turnovers or red zone stands to win games. We can’t win the huge games at our talent level unless QB keeps getting better and playing like this as his base performance
