USC 2026 Quarterly Review: Q1
Summary
LB: Had to come back and revisit this, always appreciate your viewpoint.
Had to come back and revisit this, always appreciate your viewpoint. I have generally assumed (being presumptuous I know) that you have kind of been out on Riley for a while but that you're not inclined to be as strident about it as others on this board. I wonder what you think is going through Jen Cohen's mind right now. This upcoming game just became even more crucial than what you described above. This Rutgers game was the perfect opportunity to put on a performance that would work the fanbase into a lather (a good one) and make the Coliseum a truly hostile environment for the Ducks. And while I do still think that the fans are going to show out and be loud, it's impossible that there isn't going to be an undertone of restlessness and anxiety worked into the crowd as well. If the Oregon team that we thought was going to show up this season comes in and puts on a show in the Coliseum, that following week against Washington will not be a fun environment. Now, college football being what it is, it will not surprise me at all if SC goes out and beats Oregon, but to me, I feel like after last night I have seen enough to know that Lincoln Riley is not the guy to lead SC to the promised land. Unfortunately for Cohen, she is saddled with an impossible buyout and so while I think nothing is going to happen to Riley, I would love to be a fly on the wall when she talks to her inner, inner circle. Anyway, just curious to know what your thought are.
