I haven’t rewatched but Heard ran all the way across the field with a man in motion and Jones looked at him an... show more The second TD. Base 4-2-5 for Vandy. It’s man coverage. Rinaldi is responsible for the rb. I point that out because seasnake clearly thought Rinaldi should pass/bump off to the motion, and seasnake take the rb. Rinaldi waves it off. That kicks off the disaster. Boundary corner is communicating who goes with who to sesnake but it’s pretty clear trying to close the gap caused by the confusion with the initial handoff, he isn’t paying attention to what Hight or Matthew’s (not sure who it is) is trying to set up. Who is at fault? I could make a case for multiple players. Not knowing the assignment and protocol for this coverage makes it all a guess. I think jones didn’t help alleviate the situation. 3 top screen and he stays pretty anchored to the far side hash at snap with the single high help. Even if vandy perfectly executes the handoffs, seasnake is going to have to make a pretty incredible adjustment to do much against the fly route that gets an inexcusable free release. Safety needed to slide with the motion to better position himself for the biggest threats.
