Quick sips of tea in regards to spring football
Summary
Justin Rowe, Dallas Brannon, Montino Williams stand out; Henderson favored at CB; Omillio Aga emerging.
So I mentioned a a few players that rose their stock earlier this spring but wanted to expand why some of those players made the cut.
Whenever I have asked about players that have stood out - especially when I ask about the younger guys - LB Justin Rowe, LB Dallas Brannon and S Montino Williams are often the ones that sources bring up.
Williams already showed some glimpses last season of his potential on special teams but he really took the next step, from what I've been told. During the scrimmages and even in the game, he is often around the ball and has deflected a few passes.
The CB position is an interesting one because Virginia does return experience there with Donavon Platt and Jam Jackson - two players that have started for UVA at corner at some point the last two seasons. Meanwhile, they also return Ja'Maric Morris, who was sidelined last year but was impressing before his injury, and welcomed a few more transfer options.
Jacobie Henderson raised his stock in that competition this spring. Cornerbacks coach ShaDon Brown also described him a an ‘alpha’ and he is probably the favorite at one of the corner slots. The one to watch out for in this group will be CB Omillio Agard. I was told by two separate sources - one early in the spring - that Agard was very impressive prior to his injury and could be one to watch during fall camp to raise his stock in that competition.
