Ohio State allowed it even in the dotting-the-i annual event at halftime. In the NFL, bands became afterthoughts when it was ruled that the band members had to be paid the scale when they were part of the telecast, basically why you don't see a lot of the bands during a telecast. The Redskin band with all the headresses was a must to watch when the Redskins struggled to get Ws. One of the funniest band competitions was when we played Purdue in the Peach Bowl in 1984. Purdue had a huge national class band on the field before the start of the game. Someone got the wild idea to have our scat-band to perforate the Purdue formation in its own special way: one of the funniest hijinks I can remember.
