West Virginia has run on 112 of its first 138 offensive plays, producing 597 rushing yards at 5.3 per carry with seven touchdowns. The offense averages 6.8 yards per play and 41.5 points per game, but the preview identifies Virginia as its strongest opponent so far. The early production is heavily run-driven, not evidence of a balanced pass-heavy attack.

West Virginia's roster has 34 returning players and 88 newcomers, and 20 players have made their first WVU starts this season. That group includes quarterback Michael Hawkins Jr., running back Cam Cook, four offensive linemen and multiple defensive starters. The preview also reports 21 freshmen appearing, underscoring the amount of early-season integration rather than announcing new promotions.

Virginia has used five running backs for at least 10 carries apiece through two games, led by Xay Davis with 120 yards and a touchdown. The preview describes a veteran offensive line and a run-oriented attack that has not needed many throws; Beau Pribula has completed 84% for 317 yards and five touchdowns while adding 102 rushing yards.

Virginia's defense has allowed 5.5 points and 195.5 yards per game through two games. The preview emphasizes returning experience, including Kamren Robinson, and talent across the front and secondary. Those are early results and a roster assessment ahead of West Virginia, not a projection that the same scoring suppression will continue.
