- Kansas' biggest offensive variable is quarterback: Cole Ballard, Isaiah Marshall and Rice transfer Chase Jenkins all remained in the competition after spring without anyone clearly taking control. - The offense is expected to revisit option-oriented concepts while adding wrinkles from Kotelnicki's time at Penn State, but the staff must tailor that approach to personnel that no longer includes Jalon Daniels or Devin Neal. - Pickett in the slot and McMillan outside form the trusted top receiver pairing; Middle Tennessee transfer Nazie Cox and Keaton Kubecka are among the candidates for the next role. - The line retained Clements but still has three open starting spots, creating significant continuity risk around an unsettled quarterback.

- KU D-line looks good if ends stop dropping into coverage; Harris and Brinkley key pass rushers.

- Nickels has WR talent and body; interested in QB competition as summer topic.

- Ballard limited mobility game manager; staff inexcusable for not developing QB better than him; McComb saw opportunity elsewhere.

- QB/LB: Spring practice is over for Kansas and the players are in their final weeks of weight lifting before the end of the spring semester.
