Huskies Wrap Week Two of Camp with Open Practice at The Rent
- Jason Candle said UConn remains inconsistent after two weeks of camp, with full-contact situational work exposing both encouraging stretches and execution that still requires correction before the Lafayette opener.
- Toledo transfer K'Von Sherman is expected to lead UConn's defense after a 94-tackle, 14.5-tackle-for-loss season, and Candle believes the first-team All-MAC linebacker still has significant development ahead.
- Penn transfer John Lista is adapting from a bend-don't-break system to UConn's more aggressive downhill linebacker scheme after producing 78 tackles, six tackles for loss and two sacks in 2025.
- UConn added two experienced running backs in Toledo transfer Kenji Christian, who had 739 scrimmage yards and five touchdowns in 2025, and West Virginia transfer Cyncir Bowers, a one-cut explosive runner with 365 scrimmage yards and three scores last season.
- Bowers said UConn's new offense is still making early-camp mistakes but is avoiding repeat errors and operating at the fast pace Candle demands.
