- In Arizona's Sept. 24, 2026 notebook, Brent Brennan confirms defensive back Daylen Austin has a season-ending injury. He separately gives no update on tight end Cole Rusk, who left the Northern Illinois game hurt. Austin's season-ending designation must not be applied to Rusk, whose status remains unresolved. - After Arizona struggled to run against Northern Illinois in 2026, Brennan identified missed assignments and deficient execution as problems. Correcting those details is a priority this week after the better rushing performance against BYU; he did not announce a different offensive system or a replacement line. - Arizona used Brandon Phelps in the slot against Northern Illinois, a departure from his previous usage. In the 2026 notebook, Brennan links inside-outside flexibility to mixing receiver body types and notes that some calls and assignments differ. This documents game usage, not a permanent move or a new starting lineup. - Arizona safety Cam Chapa received an extended look against Northern Illinois largely because of injuries. Brennan called it his most confident and physical performance since arriving and linked faster play to learning the scheme. The 2026 assessment supports recent expanded usage, not a guaranteed starting role or future snap share.

- Injury: When asked about Tyrese Boss starting, Brennan said it was as simple as Dwight Bootle II being injured and missing last game and Tyrese Boss playing well in his absence.

- RB: agree if there is a backup guard who has potential, now is the time to rest rhino.
