- East Carolina's Week 2 preview expects Brock Spalding to remain out with a back issue, reports that Ray Ray Joseph aggravated his shoulder against Alabama but plans to try to play, and projects Landon Sides to return after missing the opener. These are reported availability expectations, not final clearances, and they leave the receiver rotation unsettled entering App State. - East Carolina went 0 for 9 on third down with an average of 9.4 yards remaining against Alabama while starting eight first-year transfers. The preview frames this as an unfinished transition under new coordinator Jordan Davis: his 2023-25 North Texas offenses combined explosive-play production with a roughly 53% passing share, but those historical results are not evidence that ECU's current line and skill group have reached that level. - East Carolina's 2026 defense disguises blitzes and drop-eight coverage from similar looks in its three-man front. The preview nevertheless flags missed sacks and tackles plus poor leverage after short Alabama catches; the double-digit passing gains discussed averaged nearly 14 yards after catch. App State's underneath routes could target that execution, but Alabama's receiver talent makes the comparison imperfect.

- Injury: I disagree with that just in the sense of look at all our guys that are now banged up.

- Injury: After a lighter practice Monday, where it's a light workload and early game plan deals/fixing mistakes, Tuesday was certainly ramped up.

- Injury: The defense definitely looked respectable athletically, and physically, more than the offense.

- Injury: East Carolina will head into its season opener against Alabama down one of its best players.
