- Two North Carolina players left the program after spring practice, per team spokesman.

- Practice: North Carolina Football is beyond the mid-point of spring practice, and while access for the media has been limited, there's still plenty to glean from Bill Belichick and the Tar Heels so far.

- Practice: Bottom line and then I'm done with this...

- Limited media access commonplace now; Mack comparison just illustrates current practice restrictions.

- Team already better now than entire last year; will continue improving.

- Practice: USAToday has become so anti-Carolina that there isn't any fun looking at anything they write.

- North Carolina's quarterback competition remains open after adding Billy Edwards and Miles O'Neill; the staff's roster moves indicate that one of the new faces may need to win the job. - Travis Burgess brings athletic upside but is still working through development and health recovery after an ACL injury, adding another layer of uncertainty to the room.

- Christo Kelly: last season's injury deepened leadership role; spring focus on consistency, execution, daily habits; continuity helps team speak same language.

- QB/LB: No one else should be scrambling to try to sign a QB who can’t academically qualify… “talent will take you places your character can’t keep you”

- QB: Gotta have a solid consistent pass rush for him to have a chance.

- North Carolina / Bill Belichick: Vague on Bobby Petrino's role ("probably like it was with Josh [McDaniels]"), suggesting hands-off approach similar to Patriots model; Billy Edwards steady hand at QB with competition arriving in June. - North Carolina WR room: Jordan Ship (flashes last year) could unlock receiver unit with upgraded QB play and offensive coordinator change from Petrino. - North Carolina: Belichick-Petrino relationship suggests offensive autonomy; Edwards competing at QB; WR group (Jordan Ship) needs fullroom evaluation post-June additions.

- UNC freshman QB Travis Burgess has impressive throwing mechanics; other QB abilities unclear.

- Petrino evaluated roster before taking job; confident QB room improved significantly.

- UNC staff overpaid with short timeframe; schedule difficulty should scale to investment vs. other programs, not cupcake opponents.

- Gio benefits from former OC and experienced QB coach next year; Lombo may have convinced Bill to take job.

- QB: As I said, you seem to be pretty confused about what’s happened and happening.

- Petrino prone to reveal position battles, QB competition, standouts, OL progress in detailed spring press conferences; expect specifics on Dickens, RBs, receivers, TEs, Trey Blue vs Hall at LT, Buchanan vs McRoy at RT.

- Year 1 was 3-4 plays from winning record; team needs improved QB and offense for 8+ wins.

- New offense features Shanahan-style motion; next year's QB likely won't play snap for UNC; Burgess/Newkirk/O'Neill need paid for QB1 competition.

- QB: Shape the offense around QB strengths and weaknesses.

- QB/LB: [if you are gonna pass, then pass without taking a personal swipe…personal swipe deleted by a mod] I’m gonna pass on this exchange.

- QB room, OL serviceable improvement, help for Shipp, strong TE room, Petrino factor.

- Miles high ceiling QB, Billy solid floor; OL anchored by Blue/Threatt/Kelly/Banfield/Buchanan; DL 6-deep with Isaiah Johnson/Leroy/Xavier Lewis; four confirmed better QBs than last year.

- Jackson Failla lost QB job at North Allegheny same way his father won it years prior—nepotism cycle repeats.

- Competent QB + fast ball delivery + downhill run game requires OL step forward.

- UNC O-line is junior-college level; QB needs Fran Tarkenton mobility to spread ball.

- Trey Blue listed as first-string tackle or guard — notable if not random depth chart ordering.

- Portal transfers make consistent five-junior/senior lineups impossible; every schedule opponent replacing starters with question marks.

- Practice: Head coach Scott Forbes met with IC and other local media on Saturday morning ahead of UNC's off day practice.

- Carolina football defensive coordinator Steve Belichick , special teams coach Billy Miller , as well as student-athletes Christo Kelly and Melkart Abou Jaoude meet with the media Tuesday afternoon.

- Intel: Every time you write about "odds and ends" I can't get this song out of my head, lol...

- FCS/lower-tier transfers like those from Lehigh/Richmond/Charleston Southern rarely succeed at P5 level; Cam Ward exceptions rare; questioning their actual quality relative to peers.

- Pick/market: It’s fascinating to watch a few of these guys spiral out.

- Belichick building UNC program; transfer portal eroding fan investment in college football.
