- Pick/market: That's an App State touchdown!

- App State can vary DJ Smith's base 4-2-5 with 4-3 looks on early downs and in the red zone, using Colton Phares' run-support and coverage versatility. The Maine game also showed the importance of rotation context: passing production rose from 5 of 13 for 44 yards in the first half to 13 of 19 for 154 after halftime as deeper reserves played; a tighter secondary rotation against ECU is the preview writer's expectation, not an announced snap plan. - In its 2026 opener, App State used quick throws and short rollouts, with Singleton's average completion traveling five yards before nearly nine yards after the catch. Lewis and Cross ran productively, and Kanye Roberts returned from his 2025 ACL injury on limited carries. ECU's quicker pressure will test whether the line and Singleton can repeat that efficiency against stronger opposition.

- QB: If there's anything nagging me about yesterday, it's this...

- QB/RB: The defense surprised me with their quickness and tackling.

- Defense: Howse came from the backside there, was split out wide, zone coverage just lost him.

- Defense: Coverage sack, almost back to the line.

- Offense: Instead, ECU offense comes back out and converts the TD.

- OL: Really impressed with play calling, decision making and O-Line effort so far.

- Offense: That 47-yard completion is more than 20% of all Maine offense today.

- QB/DL: Honestly, they should be favored, at home, with that defensive line….it will be a challenge keeping them off our Qb

- LB: Branch on jet sweep, LB just can't quite corral him and they were strung out at that point.

- Intel: Two great PBU’s from Henderson after giving up the long TD

- Intel: As a grown man and a football player he of all people should know that you don’t get married during the season.
