POST-SPRING FOOTBALL NOTES | Iowa State Cyclones LIVE #64
- Top Betting/Intel Takeaways
- Iowa State's spring-game takeaway was defense first: the hosts came away more confident in the defense than the offense, especially the front seven.
- The new defensive approach showed far more man coverage and a four-man-front look than Iowa State has used in recent years, which the hosts see as a needed evolution against power run and mobile QB offenses.
- The tradeoff is clear: Iowa State may allow a few more explosive plays, but the hosts expect more turnovers and a more aggressive defensive identity.
- QB competition is real but healthy. Jalen Raynor is viewed as the current starter, while Zane Flores pushed hard and led both touchdown drives in the spring game.

Campbell help Rogers with roster
- Campbell brought in far more players than expected and helped Rogers trim noncontributors; several of the 81 newcomers won’t play.

Heard an interesting proposal - NIL luxury tax
- Big Ten and SEC would likely block an NIL luxury tax; money already controls college sports and tournament/playoff committees.

CJR on Triple Option Podcast
- Liked Triple Option podcast; Jimmy saying the “going rate” out loud was the best part; Ames football will be fine, stoked for season.
