RIP Coach
- Pick/market: I was perhaps least connected to Walden out of any ISU FB HC since Majors due to having moved out of state, no ISU games on TV and before internet.

Podcast: EXCLUSIVE: New Coaches In Big 12 Will SHOCK The Conference, Jimmy Rogers and ISU Will DOMINATE
- Iowa State's quarterback room is the main uncertainty flagged here, with the discussion asking whether one player is clearly "the dude" entering 2026.
- The upside case centers on a former Arkansas State producer who is described as posting roughly 2,000, 2,500, and 3,300 passing yards over the last three seasons.
- The snippets still attach a competition caveat to those numbers, so the QB outlook is promising but not settled enough to treat as a proven Big 12 edge yet.

POST-SPRING FOOTBALL NOTES | Iowa State Cyclones LIVE #64
- Top Betting/Intel Takeaways
- Iowa State's spring-game takeaway was defense first: the hosts came away more confident in the defense than the offense, especially the front seven.
- The new defensive approach showed far more man coverage and a four-man-front look than Iowa State has used in recent years, which the hosts see as a needed evolution against power run and mobile QB offenses.
- The tradeoff is clear: Iowa State may allow a few more explosive plays, but the hosts expect more turnovers and a more aggressive defensive identity.
- QB competition is real but healthy. Jalen Raynor is viewed as the current starter, while Zane Flores pushed hard and led both touchdown drives in the spring game.

- Iowa State catastrophic offseason: Lost veteran QB Rocco Becht, top defensive talent (Orange to NFL), and coach Matt Campbell to Penn State; Campbell took best players to Ames, leaving Cyclones as one of most depleted rosters in country; high anxiety for fanbase despite Oklahoma State-like coaching refresh elsewhere.
