- Smenges was in sling, didn't practice; coach keeps injury status unclear.

- Backup QB uncertain. - Geriner has experience edge over Renda/Dailey. - If Mason gets injured, roster looks vulnerable.

- Pittsburgh's ceiling is tied closely to quarterback Mason Fine playing at or near his best, with the hosts viewing competent quarterback play as the ingredient that can make the Panthers dangerous. - Pitt's conference path may tolerate losses to Miami and Notre Dame; the discussion viewed a 7-2 ACC record as plausible if the Panthers consistently handle the Boston College, NC State, Stanford and Georgia Tech tier of the schedule.

- Pitt QB hype was high for Slovis after the ACC title and before Addison left.

- Staff must simplify offense or bench QB if he can't process consistently; they benched Holstein last year when needed.

- Tech paid huge money for backup QB situation; NIL deals ruining college football; Beck precedent shows it's now professional sports.

- Walt Harris great QB guru but offensive TOs failed miserably; teams looked horrible after bye weeks.

- Transfer-heavy rosters now standard; by Year 3, depth chart hierarchy clear with third-fifth year players mostly transfers.

- Narduzzi's ND loss inexcusable; poor OC handling lost both coordinator and QB; mediocre ceiling after 21 years.

- Cory Sanders completed first spring camp as Pitt defensive coordinator, shadowed for behind-the-scenes look at daily coaching operations.

- Pitt exploring 13 personnel (1 RB, 3 TE, 2 WR) with portal additions Lagg, Kent, Hunt; lost blocking WR Johnson, need new WRs to scheme effectively.

- OL: Pitt had its best offensive line when they were all whip players back when I beat Clemson at Clemson

- Running game has stronger pieces than passing game, but weak OL makes RB success difficult without help.

- Allar returning to PSU cost ~$10MM vs. - Dart's ~$17MM pre-free agency; Warren/receivers inflated stats.

- Pitt O-line improved; receiver/TE development critical; Mason needs time to operate.

- Anderson faced third-team defenders; body development improved significantly from last year.

- Sanford and Ward stepping in Day 1 competing for starting jobs; strong defensive unit if no late departures.

- Malik Knight's two big plays were most impressive from spring scrimmage.

- Intel: He'd post the most random off the wall stuff and it was funny AF.

- Players chase best offers; coaches oversell programs with false prestige claims.

- Transfer Portal needs degree-progress requirement for athletic eligibility.
